Sep 07, 2017 I've just bought an mpd24 and am experiencing the same firmware issues that it seems a ton of other people have had.I have looked for the 1.10 firmware all over the internet but none of the links work. Does anyone have an active link for it/some tips on getting this thing to work!! Running on an HP Pavilion Windows 8, i3 Cheers Dom. The unique ID for this application's bundle is com.psicraft.vyzex.mpd24. The application lies within Audio & Video Tools, more precisely Music Production. The following version: 1.0 is the most frequently downloaded one by the program users. This software for Mac OS X was originally produced by Akai Professional, LP.
First, I tried it from my Mac. I tried using Akai's Vyzex software and two other programs to download it via USB. Every time, the MPD24 stops receiving part way through. I tried three different USB hubs, plus connecting directly to a USB port on the Mac. I tried three different USB cables. Nothing works.
So I tried a Vista laptop. Well, first thing first, Vista can't see the MPD24's USB firmware update port for some reason. So I tried a Turtle Beach 1x1 MIDI interface and good ol' MIDI cables. That appears to transmit successfully. However, wheit says it's done and 'PRESS ENTER' appears on the display, I press enter and.. nothing. I've done a bunch of Googling, and it appears that one other poster had luck by powering from an external adaptor instead of using USB for this procedure. But not me. I've tried all kinds of permutations of power, USB connected to one computer or the other, turning things off and on in different order. Same result every time. If you power it off at this point and power back on, there's a garbage display and the backlight doesn't come on. The only recovery is to erase the firmware, which puts it back in the awaiting-update state, and the whole thing starts over.
So it now appears that my MPD24 is a brick. Thanks a bunch, Akai. Anyone got any ideas before I toss this thing in the trash?
There is a nice bright LCD display for navigation and displaying various status info, as well as various program and MMC transport controls nearby and at the bottom of the unit. I use it to make hip-hop and electronica beats, and it will handle anything you throw at it.
